Popular Post webfact
Koh Samui: Eight foreigners ripped off by Thai woman over visas/work permit go to the police Picture: 77kaoded Eight foreigners went to the Bo Phut police in Bo Phut, Koh Samui on Saturday to ask for action against a Thai businesswoman who they say has ripped them off regarding visa and work permit extensions and company registrations and other company matters. Named only by a fictitious name of "Joy" the woman is the owner of an accounts office that said they could help foreigners with their paperwork for a fee. They had been trying to extend Non-B visas and doing the other paperwork with some placing deposits in the 10,000 baht range and others laying down 100,000 baht or more. Losses total a million baht. After six months of trying to contact Joy they feared they had been conned out of their money as contact could only be made through a LINE application. She kept promising that their applications were in progress. Picture: 77kaoded They also feared problems with immigration as a result, reported 77kaoded. On Saturday a representative spoke for them in meeting Lt-Col Thanongsak Aksornsom who had been handed the case from station chief Pol Col Yuthana Sirisombat. Thanongsak said that this group was not the first to claim they had suffered. A summons had already been issued for Joy to which she had not responded, If she does not respond to a second summons they will consider going to the court for a warrant for her arrest. Police are interviewing each individual to ascertain their precise grievance and urged others who may have been affected in the case to come forward. I have seen before in Pattaya when something similar happened and the cops nicked the foreigners involved for overstay, fined and deported them, which they saw as easier than going after the ripoff merchant involved. 15 1 2 4

Popular Post khunPer
I'm always suspicious when people choose to use kind-of-agent instead of a proper source for their paperwork, like a lawyer for company registration, and the accountant or lawyer in the company where one is employed to extend a work permit and help with permission to stay based on work... 9

Popular Post mberbae
Sending money simply because of Line App is insane. No one asked for an actual address ? No one went to see Joy ? And, Judging from their dress code, I can deduct their IQ must be quite low. 4 2

The guy owns the gym that is less than 100 meters from the police station, he went straight from work. He is a super nice guy who dresses with buttoned up shirts when he goes out, I think it because it was actually the police who asked him to come in. But people love to judge and show their pettiness and thinly veiled hatred behind their little keyboards Edited November 9, 2020 by firestar Server 11 1

Really ???? what a joke. And, you are making those decisions, either towards myself based my comments ridiculing the anal nature of your posts or towards the subject of the Op because he has tattoo’s and wore a vest in a police station !!!!! Are you one of these foreigners who’ve become more Thai and than the Thai’s and become offended at every minor slight a foreigner makes even when Thai’s are not really that bothered ? Your contribution to this thread is to aim criticism at a foreigner who’s been ripped off, not at all about the fact that he was cheated !!! The halfwits who have gone too native are hilarious. They don’t even recognise it in themselves. 2

In my years in Thailand I have had to use Thai lawyers a number of times. The break is 60/40 very good v very bad. Hua Hin - traffic accident - bad. Setting up a company - bad Bangkok - murder case - very good. Defending a Thai against 'defamation of character' - very good Samui - my wife's estate when she died without a will - very good. You just roll the dice. Same as anywhere. In the UK - divorce from my first wife, my lawyer cost me more in mainternance every time he opened his mouth. I did better after I sacked him and represented myself.
