The Beach Bar in Chaweng Noi is another option, when they are open. Otherwise you can go to Dreamland, or Old School Bar, or Ma-Ha-Tea; but you might need to be Thai-speaking to have a chance for a date...???? If you wish date in exchange of baht, then there are plenty of karaoke bars all over the island – but Thai men like to make face with money, so don't be a Cheap Charlie, if you wish "good looking girls"...???? Just go in, sit down, lit up a fat cigar with a 1,000 baht bill. The rest should be easy. But you'll need a lot of these big bills to burn on them.

Popular Post khunPer
Saturday Night Fever-update... The restaurant with heavy live-music on the corner of Chaweng's beach road and Soi Green Mango – I think it's called "Palms" – was closed, probably not enough customers. So no activity before Hush, and later the Green Mango Club, that has reopened. From Friday nights fairly loaded rap-party, there was excellent space for Saturday dance-fever, some customers, but it was not overcrowded. If you're into good live music – reggae and rock – then in Soi Sound, the alley next to Green Mango, the Chica Locanda is open. And bearing in mind that it's usually lower than low-season in November and first half of December on Samui – in older time were many resorts and venues simply closed, I remember Reggae Bar closed during that period – then it seems like the number of visitors are not that far from "normal" during the monsoon-season... There are a few bars open in Soi Sound, but it's changing. Some reopened bars have closed again, whilst others are still open, and have both ladies and customers. The amusement activities are in the back, not by the beach road – except the Friday-Saturday's pool & beach-parties at Ark Bar – Green Mango Club has lit up the soi with street lamps, as it's only the two dance clubs that are open there at the moment, and a food stall opposite Green Mango Club... It's behind the Green Mango Club in what I think now could be called Soi Black, that there are activities... And foreigners seems still to meet in outdoor Black Bamboo, it's as crowded as every time I've passed by since the reopening – and that's quite a number of times – and inside Black Club is as usual full house. I noticed a lot of – for me unknown – young girls right inside the gate was very interested in me; I'm however not sure if it's positive, i.e. that I by maturing becomes more handsome...???? –or it's just because of low season...???? –inside however seems to house a surplus of apparently single ladies...???? Black Club is a great disco and great atmosphere, but in my subjective view the music is too much Thai-style for my dance-mood – but that's how we are all so different – which might also be why some Westerners prefer the house music-style in Black Bamboo, which could remind of good old-time after-party at Fuzion Club in Lamai. A late night view of soi Black in the other direction towards Soi Green Mango... 4

A few of the beachfront resorts have reopened with full service, perhaps 10-15 percent of them. There are some restaurants open in Central Festival, but also many closed, especially those aiming on mainly tourists as customers. Other areas on Samui are much more lively than Chaweng and Lamai – and also with open bars and pubs – and plenty of restaurants open. Driving on the Ring Road in the evening it seems almost all open from Nathon to Bo Phut, I just did the trip today. However, if you are looking for nightlife like Chaweng's, you need a transport to get to there. It's hard to predict what will happen this New Year, or rather where people will head out for a countdown, but Ark Bar might be a good suggestion, if it's fine weather. Take for example a look at Bang Rak, Fisherman Village, and Maenam Beach. W in Maenam might also arrange parties – little high-end – I often hear their music in week-ends. Thx for sharing some pictures!

Well noted. I am amazed that anything is open on Samui this November. As you mentioned. Not that long ago many busines owners would shut up shop for November. November villa bookings are down a tad (25% down on previous months) but December is looking busy again.

Popular Post khunPer
Saturday beach fever and soi up-date... A fairly crowded Ark Bar fairly at 9:40 pm... Close by was a loaded Paradise Bar with live music and fire show at 9:42 pm... One more bar with music and some customers, and space for more, a bit further north – I don't know the name – at 9:43 pm; yes, I'm either a fast walker or the clock in my phone slowed down...???? Soi Green Mango at 10 pm, with customers in Viking Bar, but otherwise an empty alley, as always by 10 pm with Hush and Green Mango Club ready to welcome the party-crowd, just as it use to be... –But the soi is more alive shortly after midnight, also as it use to be, apart from 2/3 of the usual venues are closed, so both Henry Africa's shot-babes, the blond Galaxy-chicks and the usual Dream Girls are all only available in one's dreams only... The Island's best Hip-Hop place – so they state – was as always still very alive late by almost 1:30 am... Almost at same time, however two minutes later, in soi Black... Yes, there are some nightlife available on Samui...???? 2

corkman
Great updates guys, especially Khun Per. I'm looking forward to me trip on 23rd. I guess there will be a mini surge of visitors, so should be able to have a few fun nights. Is anywhere advertising for a half decent Xmas day dinner? I don't mind (actually, I would fancy) a traditional carvery in an Irish or British style pub, rather than a fancy (half cold) buffet. Any options? Need to book?
Tropicalevo
Depends on where you are staying. I can only talk about the area where I live. The Shakespeare in Plai Laem/Bangrak will probably be doing Christmas dinners. Traditional and non traditional food. Busy for roast Sunday dinners and busy on Fridays for Fish and Chips. Small, friendly, not expensive pub. It has been open all through Covid. Quiet most other nights. Check them on Facebook and Tripadvisor. Joe does an interesting chicken tikka massala pizza and a very good fillet steak. (Book that one.) The Melia in Choengmon has been open since the major re-furb and re-branding. (Was the Imperial Boat House.) They have been offering Sunday brunches and are popular with locals and other hotel managers. They may be doing a Christmas lunch
