Thank you for your input. I’ve been to SCG, HomePro and a few others. I’m would like to find a Sala builder who might have the authentic materials.

You probably won’t find a Sala builder for that. You have hand riven shakes that have been painted so you need to find a woodworker who has a froe, alternatively get one made and learn to use it yourself, it isn’t rocket science, and make them. There are many kinds of wood that can be used. They will have been riven from a newly felled tree so unless they were shipped in will have come from local timber.

Any local metal butcher can make a froe from an old leaf spring, probably from a truck as they have the thickness needed.

Cannot help you with the shingles but want to warn you about possible termite damage to your Sala.

A few years back TGF had a Sala delivered to our new-built Sarin house in Ubon.

Evert-hing fine until we went to live in our other house in her village.

We visit the Ubon house rarely and soon discovered it was being attacked by termites.

Had some guys spray and fix it.

We have now moved it to our village house where we can keep an eye on it and repair what still needs to be repaired.
