ShindenGo
Hello All, I apologize if this is the wrong forum and if necessary please move it to the appropriate one. I am thinking of installing a Thai Traditional Sala in my yard since the yard is being hardly used. As I understand you can purchase a Sala and plop it down on your yard. But I would like to know: is it necessary to drill pillars into the ground to “hold” the Sala??? (Similar to the pillars drilled into the ground for homes) Thank You!! bankruatsteve
Not for the one we have. Just electric supply if it has fan/lights. Might need to do some leveling.
JAFO
If you get a good quality Sala its heavy, Just have it set on small cement pads to keep the termites away and reduce water damage. Enjoy it, I love mine.
JAFO
Additionally, I installed a low cost but very nice little Solar LED light. Works great so no need to pull power to it unless of course you want a fan but i'd guess you can find a solar set up. ????

Now I recall that we did put down 4 paving bricks for each post and leveled those. They had treated for termites/beetles so that wasn't a concern for us. Popular Post Crossy
Yeah ^^^, ours was delivered in two pieces, main body on a trailer and roof in the back of a pickup. It sits on 4 pre-leveled paving slabs straight on the (well compacted) ground. It is HEAVY!!! Needs a lick of varnish after four years. Sala was built by a small outfit in Phetchabun. It's mostly Mai Padu (a hardwood, but cheaper than Mai Daeng), the gables are Shera. This is their "big size", 50k Baht including delivery to Bangkok (likely more expensive now).
cooked
A year or two ago we had a storm and we had several fairly new structures literally blown away. Two had concrete footings, the roof of one finished up 100 metres down the road. Just saying... Not a big deal to dig holes, concrete in a four concrete pipes for anchorage.

More reasonable and cheaper than drilling pillars into the ground.
