Popular Post webfact
Government to introduce “Thailand Plus” application for foreign tourists The Thai government is to introduce a new application, called “Thailand Plus”, to enable the tracing of foreign tourists in the country. Mr. Sompote Arhunai, CEO of the Energy Absolute Company, which developed the “Mor Chana” application, said that the Thailand Plus app functions like Mor Chana, but it will link to information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, regarding the certificate of entry (COE) of the arriving foreign tourists, for screening and tracing, from arrival in Thailand, for the prevention of COVID-19 spread. Similar to a GPS system, he said that officials will know the whereabouts of the tourists during their stay in Thailand, in case any of them are found to have contracted the contagion, so that action can be taken immediately to prevent its spread. Popular Post 2long
Well, it will only track the whereabouts of the device and not the person. Although most of us can't spend time away from our phones during normal days, even before Covid I noticed that many western tourists just brought their phones to connect to hotel wi-fi and didn't take them out and about. Oh, and whatever happened to those watch things? that lasted all of about 10 minutes before going quiet.
Popular Post rabas
Information on the “Mor Chana” application not given above: https://www.cattelecom.com/cat/content/3754/222/Thailand+launches+Mor+Chana+mobile+app+to+enhance+?lang=en_EN Includes a very long discussion on how this ap doesn't violate your privacy, can't violate your privacy, the teams and committees that will insure it doesn't violate your privacy, layers of privacy protection and privacy safe guards. All data is stored in anonymous form, until it isn't. How the authorities won't look, until they need to, and the ap will only be active as long as they want it to be. ... Obviously nothing to worry about, why else write all that? Actually I wouldn't worry that much except for mistakes. "Urgent! All band alert! Rabus is infected!" 7
Popular Post Trujillo
"If the quarantine works then why is this needed?" It's been 184 days since a true domestic "case" of covid in Thailand...that's just over 13 fourteen-day quarantine periods. Why are we wearing masks? 19 3

Popular Post Migrosmarket
I think this is a great idea. They need something to protect the Thai population from us dirty Farangs who never shower and spread all manner of diseases. This will be a good supplement to the quarantine, wristbands and minders they already have lined up. Hockeybik
I'm not a tourist but if I were, would TOT pay for my roaming charges to have this app connected all the time? The article mentioned that 600,000 Thai citizens have downloaded the Mor Chana app, that's a resounding success with a bit over 0.9% of the population using it. Is a similar success rate expected from tourist visitors?

Why would anyone allow an app like this to waste paid for data. This will be forgotten before the next quarantine period is over. 1
