The Ministry of Health today issued strict guidelines for national and international delegations scheduled to meet with the King and the Queen Mother, Prime Minister Hun Sen and other senior officials to prevent the risk of transmitting COVID-19 to them. The ministry said in the statement that the guidelines are aimed at minimising the risk of COVID-19 transmission to officials at the meetings.

The move comes two weeks after Mr Hun Sen and several senior government officials came in contact with the visiting Hungarian Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Peter Szijjarto who tested positive for the virus after arriving in Thailand on November 3.

The ministry said there are three stages: First stage is “prior to arrival”. It notes the risk level of the geographical location of the COVID-19 outbreak before the delegation arrives in Cambodia. They must present health certificates cleared of COVID-19 within 72 hours before departure. The second stage is “upon arrival”. Delegation is required to be tested for COVID-19 as soon as they arrive and they must avoid crowded gatherings prior to the meeting, it said.
