webfact 78,276
Chiang Mai: Tourism improving but anti-govt protests threaten recovery, Chamber of Commerce chief Picture: Manager Online The head of the Chiang Mai Chamber of Commerce told Manager that tourism was getting better and better in the northern Thai city as the country entered the tourist season. Warodom Pitkanon praised the government's stimulus measures. He admitted that things were not back to prior Covid-19 levels but said that the continual improvement in tourism was giving the locals an income once again. Picture: Manager Online But he was concerned that the anti-government protests could threaten that. While accepting that people had a right to voice their concerns he said that the protests could undermine confidence among tourists. Popular Post yellowboat 16,075
It is a shameless, inaccurate comment. cha cha is actually the obstacle to good tourism,. His stepping down would fix everything. Another reason why he should quit
Popular Post brommers 1,780
This man is patently uninformed about the dire state of tourism businesses. The recent long weekend actually saw a decline in business turnover in parts of CM city and income continues to run at 10-15% of the same period last year. At such levels no business will last until the vaccine allows any relaxation of the current clamp down. Indeed one wonders if the government is not actually trying to kill of large sectors of the tourism industry. It certainly shows that it knows how to close things down but it is bereft of ideas of how to release business from the prison it is locked in. Suicides are already rising noticeably and will continue to increase. Bleak times lie ahead.
