rooster59
Committee formed to push common ticket system for public transport By The Nation A ticketing policy board with 17 members will be set up to supervise a common ticketing system aimed at increasing convenience for commuters and save time on public transportation. The Government Gazette announced the formation of a committee on a common ticketing system. The committee will be headed by the transport minister as chairman. It will include the permanent secretaries of the Finance, Transport and Interior ministries, the secretary-general of the National Economic and Social Development Council, the director of the Budget Bureau, the directors-general of the Land Transport, Rail Transport and Harbour departments, secretary-general of the Consumer Protection Board, Bangkok governor, and director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand. In addition, the minister will appoint four qualified people with knowledge, abilities or experience in finance, marketing, law, economics, science and technology, engineering or other aspects that are relevant. The members will hold office for four years. The director of the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning is appointed as secretary, who has appointed two government officials as assistant secretaries. A study on Common Ticketing System had been done in 2017. The system was expected to be launched around October 2020, but the Covid-19 pandemic became an obstacle to test the system as developers based in Singapore could not work as regularly. JusticeGB
The Committee will only take 4 years to come to a conclusion? WOW so quick then it probably will go to Parliament and delayed even more.

shady86
There goes tax money on the feasibility study. In the end nothing is feasible and country moves backward.
overt2016
This has been going on for decades. As usual in Thailand the problem is deciding which proposal brings the best [monetary benefit] to the comittee.
djayz
There are cities in which a common ticketing system has been in place for 30+ years. Why is this only dawning on them now? Dinasours learn quicker. I need 3 cards in BKK; BTS, MRT and ARL. Simply ridiculous. This is what happens when everybody/department is in it for himself/themselves as opposed to the overall good of the customer, service and company.

madmitch
So they've already decided that it's going to take four years? It could be thrashed out in four days. It's not exactly a Brexit style negotiation is it?
Caldera
Oh look, another committee. Wasn't the Spider Card supposed to be rolled out already? Ten years ago? Five years ago? Last year? Never mind.
