rooster59
Khon Kaen student group rallies cry for rejection of school uniforms By THE NATION A student group in Khon Kaen province, called KKC Pakee Students, issued a statement on Thursday night urging students across the country to wear casual clothes to school on Tuesday. In its Facebook post, the group said students should not be afraid about questioning the need to wear school uniforms. “We urge all of you to wear casual clothes to school instead of uniforms to question its importance. Will students be allowed to attend classes if they do not wear a uniform? Will casual outfits increase inequality in schools? Why is focusing on uniforms so important in school?” KKC said if only 10 students wear casual outfits, they will be punished. But what happens if every student decides to wear informal clothes to school? Popular Post NE1
Uniforms are important , it stops the " we can afford designer clothes kids " embarrasing the kids who come from poor families who will probably have to wear the same clothes at least Three days a week . Uniform , so every pupil is uniform in their appearance. 6 1 1
Popular Post Ventenio
I don't really understand a few of these points....but whatever....food for thought. school uniforms: • Help prevent gangs from forming on campus• Encourage discipline• Help students resist peer pressure to buy trendy clothes• Help identify intruders in the school• Diminish economic and social barriers between students• Increase a sense of belonging and school pride• Improve attendance Opponents contend that school uniforms: • Violate a student’s right to freedom of expression• Are simply a Band-Aid on the issue of school violence• Make students a target for bullies from other schools• Are a financial burden for poor families• Are an unfair additional expense for parents who pay taxes for a free public education• Are difficult to enforce in public schools 1 1

In the high schools here...the gang kids keep a certain large keychain outside their belt in full view and that is the symbol that everyone knows...but little is done about it. Also helps teachers to see students all the same, not to have some students that are clearly high or low class. Students are simply "students" not whatever group of people they might try to affiliate with if they wore their own clothes. 1 hour ago, Ventenio said: Opponents contend that school uniforms: • Violate a student’s right to freedom of expression Ridiculous. Students don't need to wear their own clothes to express themselves. This is simply an argument to express a consumer identity. There is no need for this at all. It is actually a down side. It's quite sad that Thai people seem to think they can use the word "rights" to just demand whatever they want.• Are simply a Band-Aid on the issue of school violence What the hell does this even mean? Ridiculous statement.• Make students a target for bullies from other schools Fairly unlikely. I don't think removing uniforms would eliminate this.• Are a financial burden for poor families Don't believe this for a second. School uniforms are normally cheaper than fashionable clothes and reduce financial burden.• Are an unfair additional expense for parents who pay taxes for a free public education Again, should be cheaper than normal clothes and the amount of time they are worn for reduce wear and tear of other clothes. Don't believe this one.• Are difficult to enforce in public schools Don't believe this at all. Essentially, anti-uniform arguments appear to all stem from students wanting to "express themselves", which is them saying they want to express a consumer identity. They want to wear "cool" clothes and show off. Be part of a group and show how different (better) they are to others. The anti-uniform arguments that students make are actually bad things and reasons to wear uniforms. 5
NanLaew
I had no issues expressing my individuality while wearing school uniform for more than five years. I only got suspended twice and I was in my 6th year before I got red-carded. This occurred after it was decided that I looked way, way more cool in my Harris tweed jacket than the regulation maroon blazer. The lesson I took away from that expulsion was never believe everything your incredibly hot (two week) high school girlfriend tells you.
Popular Post twocatsmac
Another reason to avoid lowering voting ages around the world. At a young age students have contributed zilch to society, don’t appreciate the value of money and are radicalised by left wing agitators in colleges and universities. Authorities need to seriously clamp down. 3 2

kidneyw
I always remember when I got my school uniform. Thought it looked real smart and I was proud. Long time ago, but then, could not imagine wearing something else. Move forward to today. Do kids want to wear a school uniform? If not, maybe kids attitudes have changed. If so. So be it. I think the student movement should focus on core issues now, not to cloud everything and split views. Uniforms are way down the priority list of things that really matter. This just fragments peoples views.
