I am interested but hard to find any feedback / reviews. My main concern is batteries and heat, wondering if the car will die faster ? Any idea welcome ! How else have you considered the Tesla Model X and investment ? I wonder if anything outside of Bangkok becomes a struggle. There was recently a report in the Guardian (UK news) that owners of a Porsche Taykan took 9 hours to travel 130 miles because the charging stations were either out of order, had large queues or were an older type which couldn’t provide a fast enough charge. Thailand obviously doesn’t have the charging network yet - I wonder Mike787, what has your experience been of charging and living with your EV ??? Personally, I really like the idea of EV's- especially with the 60km a day on the school run alone !!! - short enough not to worry about using up the charge. The added cost of EV’s and lack of charging infrastructure obviously gives me serious pause. The cost of the ‘plug in hybrids’ seems to be getting more competitive. The Mini Cooper EV Nissan Leaf and Nissan Kicks (I know, not similar, but defiantly cheaper) Also an increasing number of ‘plug in hybrids’ - MG, Volvo, Merc and BMW. madhav Posted November 29, 2020 Share Posted November 29, 2020 Main issue with Tesla in Thailand is that there is no official showroom or maintenance support. If there is an issue, and if you want to claim it under warranty, you literally need to ship your car to Hong Kong. Of course there are non official workshops but it’s not the same. I am hoping that the factory in China will start sending them and also offer some kind of local support. My efficiency numbers are significantly better than the guys on the UK MG ZS EV forum. That may indicate that the batteries work better in the heat. It gets great reviews and will likely come in at a reasonable price (for Thailand) via Malaysia or China. How much it will actually sell for is anyone’s guess. It should be priced around 2 million baht but knowing Thailand and their obsession with taxes and high margins on new car sales will likely be closer to 3 million baht. Is it the main competition for Tesla ? I think they look better ! I would hate driving a 8MB Tesla that looks like a cheap Japanese car... Also depending on brand you might not have dealers or spare parts available. MG mooted an all-electric MG6 some while ago, but no idea if it will be available or made in Thailand.
