Moving from UK to Thai

Recommended Posts

Hi all a little advice needed. The Wife and I are thinking of moving to Thailand permanently in the next few months. My wife has been here since 2012 on a 10 year UK visa renewed every 2.5 years, the last one before she gets her Leave to remain but she has had enough of not seeing an English speaking person in the streets often and wants to live in a warmer climate under these Plandemic rules. Now the question is, will I pay tax on used house hold items I shipped, as I will initially enter on a Non O visa and later when the house is sold go for the retirement visa.

Also having searched the net I cannot find any reference to leaving the UK permanently under Covid Flu Tier3 rules.

Any advice on this appreciated

 Failing that it's a 30 ft. Sloop

cheers all

I assume you wife is Thai. She can ship your household goods duty free. If shipped in your name you will have to pay duty on them. Info is here: http://www.customs.go.th/cont_strc_simple.php?ini_content=individual_F01_160426_01&ini_menu=menu_individual_submenu_02&lang=en&left_menu=menu_individual_submenu_02_160421_01

If your wife is Thai you can apply for a single entry non-o visa at the embassy to qualify for a certificate of entry that will allow you to enter the country. At this time boty you and your wife will have to go into the 14 day quarantine when you arrive. For your entry see: https://london.thaiembassy.org/en/publicservice/application-for-certificate-of-entry-to-thailand-for-non-thai-nationa?page=5d6636cd15e39c3bd00072dd&menu=5f4b6eb3f6ae4b236972c562

For your wife it is here in Thai: https://london.thaiembassy.org/th/content/4stepstopreparedocumentstotraveltothailand?cate=5f069ee372a783584326eb77

As far as I know there is nothing that will prevent you from leaving the UK.

Hi yes if she is out of the country i think it is 3 months that's it start all over again. Something we would have to think seriously about. But she seems to have had enough. Seeing the hospitals empty nurses laid off and the news saying they are overwelmed with covid case she is scared of the lies she sees and want out.

... and what about the lies in Thailand?

My comment is relevant to this thread.  The grass is not always greener....  By returning to Thailand and letting her LTR expire, she may be moving from the frying pan and into the fire.

Well she is Thai and knows the lies there rather than in a land that was supposed to be a World leader in Honesty. Seeing the British Police on  knee to BLM then beating the S***t out of patriots is not what she expected. No to mention talking to here family every day eating out and socialising and her having to stay indoors due to the Fear that is not rampant in Thailand is her reason.
