A Chai Nat municipal official was killed in Suphanburi province on Sunday night after her car left the road and flipped into a canal.

Police arrived at the scene to find the vehicle submerged and heavily damaged.

The car was dragged from the water, revealing the body of a woman later identified as Janchai Boonma-ayu, 32.

She had travelled from Chainat to meet family and friends. The accident occurred after she had visited a friend and was driving back to her family’s house.

Police believe she fell asleep at the wheel, since there were no skid marks to show she had braked. A nearby tree showed damage, indicating an impact that had caused the vehicle to flip over.

Police suspect the driver flew out of the window and fell into the water, before the car came down and crushed her.

When will they learn to wear their seat belts?

In this case a seatbelt might have led to the same result as it might have been hard to get out of with the car getting submerged and all. (and yes I wear seatbelts but in the Netherlands people sometimes drown with seatbelts when they drive into a canal)
