STV (special tourist visa) - two insurances required - IMPORTANT

Recommended Posts

I am applying for STV.

Today I wanted to buy a COVID insurance on  a website associated with Thai government (https://www.tipinsure.com/CovidRegional/product_detail)

During buying process I got the following message.

“ For Special Tourist Visa (STV),a separate Health Insurance Policy is required. The limit sum insured for In-Patient is not less than THB 400,000 and for Out-Patient
is not less than THB 40,000 ”

I was little surprised as on Thai Embassy website nothing was mentioned about it just:

"Health insurance policy which expressly covers treatment and medical expenses in relation to COVID-19, with a minimum coverage of 100,000 USD"

Now, I will apply for CEO (Certificate of  Entry) so I little worry that they will reject my request because of just me having the COVID insurance.

I though only Covid insurance is mandatory for STV.

Does anyone knows something about it or has direct experience with that?

The 40/400k baht health insurance is required for a STV according to every embassy or official consulate website I have looked at.

See this info on the Singapore embassy website. http://www.thaiembassy.sg/visa-matters-/-consular/types-of-visa/special-tourist-visa-stv

" 2.2.3 A Thai medical insurance covering hospitalisation and emergency/accident for the entire period of stay in Thailand, with a coverage for outpatient treatment of no less than 40,000 baht and inpatient treatment of no less than 400,000 baht."

Are you sure you are not confusing the the STV with a single entry tourist visa that does not require it.

I think you are very right. I just simply missed that it was TV, no STV

Requirements are almost the same, so it little confused me.

Apart from that if you allow come people from no low risk countries come for 2+1 months so why not allow for longer stay,  like with STV,  they after time no present bigger risk.

I think this is a great question. I think they put TV visa but they mean STV

I would be grateful if you could take a look as you seem very knowledgeable.

I do not see that 40/400k mentioned under VISA or COE (https://warsaw.thaiembassy.org/en/content/how-to-apply-for-certificate-of-entry-coe)

OP, again are you sure your trying to apply for STV. Which country are you applying from.

Better option would be single entry tourist visa.

Regards you post above. Yes ubonjoe is our main solid info guy on thaivisa. Wait for his direction.

Yes, now  I know it is TV. I am applying from Poland, only TV possible at the moment.

Many threads about the process. The SETV is one part along with insurance, covid tests, ASQ quarantine etc etc.

It has hurdles however many have gone through the process.

Since it is TV and no STV I am wondering if this insurance  will be fine, because there is no choice of TV,

I have the same question you have already asked in other topics.

The drop down menu is incomplete since they updated the site. It appears the left off the 2nd part of it.

I am sure you can select any status and it will be ok. I think they have it on there to prevent you from buying insurance for a certificate of entry you do not qualify for.
