webfact Posted December 1, 2020 Share Posted December 1, 2020 Video: Thick black smoke fills the air in afternoon fire at plastics factory Firefighters tackled a blaze at a polypropylene factory in the Map Ta Phut Industrial estate yesterday afternoon. The fire was in a storage silo for plastic pellets at the HMC Polymers company, one of Asia's biggest producers in the field. NPC fire services had it under control within an hour. Staff were evacuated to safe areas. Bupphaphan Phanthong of the company reported that the first started around 4 pm. In pellet form and inside a silo it would take more than a cigarette butt to ignite them ! Maybe an electric motor burnout on a feed auger but that would be an extreme chance.
