Daily News reported that immigration chief Pol Lt-Gen Sompong Chingduang along with Region 5 officers have arrested a 39 year old Singaporean man along with five Thais, one man and four women.

They were running an online gambling operation in Chiang Mai Business Park on the Chiang Mai to Lampang Superhighway.

Officers raided business premises after a tip off from an informant that young people were hanging about the area.

In custody is Lim, 39, a Thai man aged 22, and Thai women aged 24, 28 and two aged 22.

The employees fingered Lim saying they worked for "www.59ade.com" a popular gambling site in Singapore.

Five notebooks were taken into evidence with turnover in the business between one and two million baht.

Daily News referred to Sompong by his nickname of Big Oud in their story about the bust. They used a picture of the chief plus leading officers flanked by men in hazmat suits and heavily armed commandos.

Behind was a vinyl sign of Sompong with new RTP chief Pol Gen Suwat Chaengyodsuk on the left.
