Popular Post PatOngo
I wonder if the perpetrators went and made merit at the local temple either before or after this despicable act? 3
Popular Post ChrisY1
The zoo licence has been suspended for 90 days....big deal! The owner is obviously connected to receive such a nonsense punishment, and most likely involved in traditional medicine supply trade of prohibited animal parts. It made international media, so hopefully some good will come of this case......although it's doubtful unfortunately, as many in high positions use Chinese traditional medication. 2 1

Popular Post herwin1234
These conservation authorities have a page on Facebook. Great to see what they do. Usually they are patroing forests and going after illegal logging, or illegal wildlife trade. Just a few months ago one of these patrol guys was shot and killed by a local illegal logger. This time they raid this private zoo. Not much info except photos on their page. I hope ppl here refrain from too much negativity ("their license only get suspended for 90 days!") but see whats going on that Thailand makes serious efforts protecting the environment.

NanLaew
From the cited article: "The zoo has remained on the watch of the Thai authorities after a number of locally protected animals, including red pandas, grey-shanked doucs (monkeys) and elongated tortoises, were recovered from the zoo in a crackdown in 2018. ...According to Traffic, almost 58 percent of tigers, including both dead and surviving animals, have been seized from captive breeding facilities between 2000 and 2018 in Thailand."
