The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration on Friday reported 13 new cases in state quarantine facility and one local transmission case over a 24-hour period.

Eight of those in quarantine facilities were Thai women, one Thai male and four foreigners.

A Thai woman, 45, returned from Ukraine and tested positive in a state quarantine hotel in Samut Prakarn province.

A Thai woman, 33, returned from the Netherlands and tested positive in a state quarantine hotel in Bangkok

A Thai masseuse, 33, returned from Norway and tested positive in a state quarantine facility in Chonburi.

A Nepali man, 46, tested positive in an alternative state quarantine hotel in Bangkok

A Czech man, 71, tested positive in an alternative state quarantine hotel in Samut Prakan.

A German woman, 68 and a Thai woman, 41, travelled from Germany and tested positive in an alternative state quarantine hotel in Samut Prakan and a state quarantine facility in Chonburi respectively.

Three people flew in from the United States -- an American man, 31, and a Thai female engineer, 30, tested positive in an alternative state quarantine in Bangkok, while a Thai male student, 32, tested positive in a state quarantine hotel in Chonburi.

Three Thai women, aged 23, 24 and 25, who worked in an entertainment venue in Myanmar returned legally to Thailand on December 2 and were taken to Chiangrai Prachanukroh Hospital.

Meanwhile, a male waiter, 28, at 8088 cafe restaurant in Chiang Rai, was confirmed as a local transmission case and was taken to Chiangrai Prachanukroh Hospital. His health history reveals the source of infection was likely a friend, a 28-year-old Phayao resident, who had worked at the 1G1 entertainment venue in Myanmar’s Tachilek district in early November and had allegedly illegally entered the country on November 27. He had contact with her from November 28-30; they had meals and she shared his room. He also went to the Farm Festival at Singha Park in Chiang Rai with three other friends. His symptoms started developing on December 2 which was the same day he went for a test and was found to be positive for Covid-19.

Meanwhile, seven patients have recovered and been discharged.

The total number of confirmed cases in Thailand increased to 4,053 (1,081 in state quarantine), 154 are in hospital, 3,839 have recovered and 60 have died

According to Worldometer, as of 10am on Friday, the total number of confirmed cases since the outbreak has reached 65.53 million (up by 687,631), 45.4 million have recovered, while 18.65 million are active cases (106,570 in severe condition) and 1.51 million have died (up by 12,679).

Thailand ranks 151st for most cases in the world, while the US has the most number with 14.53 million, followed by India 9.57 million, Brazil 6.49 million, Russia 2.38 million and France 2.26 million.

One thing on all this and I know many don't agree is they seem to be transparent about the local infections.

The information they have provided has been fairly detailed I believe.

Places like Central Festival CM are a very slow now obviously due to the report of a local postive female

who visited there recently. They probably could have tried to keep it all quiet or claim ignorance if it got out later.  But by being truthful it is hurting business which I am sure they would prefer not to do.  Just temporary I hope for the mall.

Just saying I think the historical reporting of known cases is probably pretty accurate.

I would agree that the reporting seems direct and valid as there really isn't any mileage in not very upfront - - - take the hard-road first up as it is better in the long run.

A male waiter at a cafe restaurant... hope they kept records of all the people he served.

Good for him for harbouring an illegal entrant... not his smartest move.
