You don't make much money selling single bottles of water. Alcohol isn't great either.  Food is most profitable because the ingredients are cheap. My point was if you worry about the price of water in Thailand you probably  aren't a big spending tourist who is going to help save the economy. More likely staying in a room with several other people, eating up at the buffet breakfast and living off Mama noodles with one big night out at the restaurant drinking water.
