A few years back a group of farangs was also able to pass through and come back without any passport checks. No need to get their feet wet. The Thai and Burmese immigration posts are paid facilitate crossings without formalities or quarantine. I went with a group of farangs and Thais a few years ago. At that time there was no day visa for farangs to cross to Burma. You had to get a visa from the Burmese embassy. But all farangs were allowed in to Burma to visit the hotel and back again without stamping of passports on either side.
