unblocktheplanet
On May 1, 2003, less than two months after the US had launched "Operation Iraqi Freedom" and had successfully deposed Saddam Hussein, President Dubya was filmed on an aircraft carrier with the sign "Mission Accomplished" hovering above him. The photo was followed by the US in combat in Iraq for another eight years. It still really ain’t over. Their first Covid waves in western Canada—Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia—were unquestionably milder than advertised, with some public health leaders achieving cult-hero status and some provincial hubris for governments. following Wave 1. But look now, and what we see is a different story. Failure, with a second wave firmly settled in. Which brings us to rapid tests and vaccines. These may (or may not) be important but masks, physical distancing, not congregating indoors with ANY outside your household bubble, and handwashing are here to stay. You’re already used to it so make it your habit.. For Covid, that is physical distancing, avoiding indoor congregation, masking whenever possible, and hand hygiene. Thinking that a vaccine means we can start moving on, well, Covid might have one or more last plays it can run. Don't quit until the game is truly over. Just as MB, SK, AB & BC, Thailand's performance so far had nothing to do with great strategy. It was just luck & isolation. That’s my message for Prayuth & his big-shot generals and the new leaders. (Uncle Too won’t be in power much longer unless he has a coup in mind.) Thai public & expats, as well as Thai border security have let down their guard & dropped the ball. The fat lady isn’t even in her dressing room warming up yet. Stick to the programme or the strategy we've adopted so far will be just wasted time. IMO, sooner or later, the population will rebel. Already happened in many countries. People see the elites disregarding their own rules and they are getting angry. Sit tight. IMO we haven't seen anything yet.
