58 illegal migrant workers from Laos arrested at resort in Ubon Ratchathani

 

 

Naval officers, from the Mekong River patrol unit, and local officials, rounded up 58 illegal migrant workers from Laos at a riverside resort in Khong Chiam district of Thailand’s Northeastern province of Ubon Ratchathani today (Monday). 

 

A Thai driver, identified as Pornthep, was also apprehended. Pornthep reportedly told the officials that he was hired by a man, with whom he is acquainted, and paid 3,000 baht to smuggle the illegal migrants from the resort to Bangkok and surrounding provinces to work.

 

The Laotians were reported to have told the officials that they each paid 5,000 baht to a broker, who offered them jobs and arranged for a gang to smuggle them across the Mekong River into Thailand.

As i have said in earlier posts, i still scratch my head and often wonder how, really, really how did Thailand manged to get a hold on this Covid business so fast and so efficient giving what we see and read lately while much more advances countries and societies are still grappling with the virus and losing thousands of people to it, really How?...

So lets follow the trail and find out who this "acquaintance" is and know who is trafficking illegal migrants?
