Parents question police prevarication in case of their son's death in accident

Parents in Phetchaburi province have demanded clarity about the accident that killed their 22-year-old son as the police had not provided them plausible evidence.

Rungkit Noi-nim and his wife Rerai Noinim told reporters on Saturday that Sumet Noi-nim died in the accident on December 2.

Police told them that the motorcycle he was riding fell, but they said witnesses and rescuers provided them some information that indicated he was hit by another vehicle.

Sai-ngam Noinim, the victim’s aunt, then started an investigation by asking for some footage from security cameras of nearby locations which, she claimed, supported their belief.

The family then demanded an official investigation that would clarify the cause of death while the police did not rule out the possibility that Sumet might have been hit by another car.

So, they declared that he fell off his bike without looking at CCTV ? Doesn't give you any real confidence in them , does it.

Person that told them it without checking should just be sacked immediately for incompetence

the cctv footage is not from the actual place of the tragic accident but "nearby". so obviously there is no cctv at the accident so logically there is no cctv for the police to check.

Its a vague story and if you look at the photo, a motorcycle that doesnt appear to have been hit by a car, its normal to assume at first the motorcycle did fall. I work near a road and see it DOZENS OF TIMES motorcycles suddenly losing their balance and smacking on the road.

of course the family cant accept its an accident and they want to presume its a hit and run, and sure it might be or not, but there is no direct eyewitnesses nor direct cctv to collaborate that.

They're Police Officers Richard, but not as we know them!

With thanks to Dr. McCoy!

So they are callled to the scene and find a dead person and a motorscooter. There appears to be no CCTV.  No other vehicle at the scene? No witnesses?  What plausible evedence can they provide?

Maybe Hercule Piorot or Miss Marlpe could solve it?

A car doesn’t need to plow into a motorcyclist at speed to knock them off.

All it takes a is a minor ’nudge’ from another motorcycle or car to bring down a motorcyclist.

The absence of ‘impact damage' from another vehicle is not evidence to suggest another vehicle was involved.

IF any of this footage shows some form of impact between the deceased and a third party it should be fairly clear cut to decide if another vehicle was involved.

IF another vehicle is involved, fault remains to be proportioned and depends on how and where who hit who.

On a daily basis I nearly hit motorcyclists who pull out, cut me off etc.. none of these potential impacts could be considered my fault and I always have a dash-cam to show this, just in case (dash-cams on my motorcycle and car - Forwards and rear facing).

The appalling reputation regarding the work ethic of police in Thailand is widely understood.

A response showing extreme apathy is not surprising.

It is unfortunate that the ‘go to response’ by the police in most similar issues in Thailand is based around doing as little work as possible or making as much money as possible from an incident or a combination of both.

‘Doing the right thing’ occurs when the BiB are forced to, not because their moral compass and work ethic is beyond reproach.

Haha Sherlock , you can only see 1 side and the rear of the bike . Suggest you go join the Thai investigative team .

The up side of the motobike (shown)  would have been the side that got hit, had it got hit .

If there was a frontal collision, there would have been damage to the front of the bike

If every incompetent policeman was sacked, there would be none left.????????

A car doesn't even need to touch the moto to cause a wreck, it could have just veered towards it suddenly to make moto wreck while trying to evade.

Then again, isn't that a black scar on left fender of moto indicating some sort crash or previous contact?
