Popular Post worgeordie
There must be cases of sleeping sickness in Thailand, as everyday it seems someone is falling asleep at the wheel. you would think the noise the kids are making in the back would keep them awake.unless the kids were asleep too. hope the injured kids have a speedy recovery. regards worgeordie

Popular Post Antonymous
The accident occurred at 06.00 in Lampang. They had driven overnight from Korat. What's the betting that the driver was not an official driver on a 'night-shift' (i.e. slept during the day before) but instead had been awake all day before and decided that he could stay awake long enough to reach the destination?
Popular Post Burma Bill
Very sad and I wish speedy recoveries to all those students who were injured. The distance from Nahkon Ratchasima to Chiang Mai is approx. 705 kms. One man with passenger minivan driving through the night, I am not surprised he fell asleep around 6am and I wonder how many rest breaks he had (if any, other than toilet stops).
brianthainess
Wow very lucky they didn't roll. Tree comes to the rescue. So anyway don't do anything about public vehicle drivers getting rest, carry on regardless. Did i hear Thailand has a transport minister or is that myth ?
jaiyen
When I am getting drowsy when driving and feel I might fall asleep I stop and sleep. Only need 15 mins and I am fine to go. Too hard for a Thai driver obviously judging by the way they keep crashing.

Maybe it's time for passengers of any vehicle to adopt a 'watch the driver' system, whereby passengers take it in turns to make sure the driver stays awake. The watcher must remain awake of course. Now that's the problem. Thais can sleep on a clothes line and when boarding any vehicle immediately enter the land of nod.????

Driving in Thailand is like participating in a Demolition Derby at the best of times. Ice would create a situation beyond anyone's imagination.
