Nonsense - you can & will loose weight if you are in a caloric deficit. You can eat carbs, you can drink sugary drinks & fruits as long as your are in a DEFICIT

The new evidence debunks your assertions. Catch up with the new research and not just depend on the pharma/medical industry info. They have a history of misleading and mis-informing the public - as long as they can make a profit.

I know revival of an old thread. But those Keto / low carb sect followers are so crazy.

 

They all come up with the fact that when there is insulin in the blood no fat can be burned. This is indeed a fact, but Jason Fung and others forget to mention is that at the time of insulin in the blood. The body burns glycogen (carbs / sugars) and stores them again in muscles. So it did not stop burning calories it simply switched fuel.

 

In the end fat will be burned when your on a caloric deficit. no matter that at some point in time you got insulin in your blood. There will be enough times that there is no insulin.

 

Of course low carb does make sense if you are really overweight and the insulin response is out of wack. But after a while low carb and exercise that is fixed and then any diet that does not / or has limited processed foods will work.

Agreed - as you say, this can have its place but its not magic

Gain muscles?? Yes, but only up to a point, talking about men, I don't know what is the most repulsive, big muscles with veins showing all over your body, or big tits and a massive belly.

I don't now either but I do know that most people will never gain those kind of muscles so its a point you and 99% of the people don't have to worry about. Gaining muscle is a lot harder then losing fat.

 

Plus you don't wake up one day covered with muscles, its so easy to stop way before that. So people really don't have to worry about getting too muscular. Now getting too fat that is an other story that is easy.

As for getting extra muscle its great in most cases but don't expect too much of a metabolic advantage of it. I wish it was true but you do burn a bit more if you have more muscles but not that much more. 

 

Its better to be just active and do some sports, as it has been proven that people who exercise stay healthy longer and have better brains. The body is made to be active and the brain works better if you do sports. It helps against alzheimer and stuff like that. 

 

I have lost my covid pounds in the last couple of months by eating less exercising more but its easy to go down in weight if your willing to change what and how much you eat. Only when you want to be really really lean will it become harder. But using the belly is easy.

 

Its is also not true that our metabolism slows down when we get older, at least not as much as was previously thought. A lot of it is because we lose muscle as we age. So again doing sports helps you keep on to those muscle. It helps a lil bit but is not magic.

 

But most people on this forum don't care to much about exercise but love their beers and other stuff. So its just a personal choice and I don't really care people should just do whatever they want.

Mineral water usually doesnt have much salt. Soda water is better. Add fasting salts to soda water.

Half true. Insulin spikes create more fat retention. A 500 calorie deficit you dont get fat but a 50 calorie deficit you could as your body wont burn much fat on high sugar.

 

The body only burns fat when insulin is low. A 1500 calorie diet incl 5 cokes vs 1500 with no sugar? The later wins.

Until such a point where the deficit requires the bodies stores of energy to be released & used as fuel
