phka
If I pay by cash for a consular service on the day of my appointment can I pay in cash. Thai baht or £ sterling do I have the option?
lopburi3
Sounds as if using cash it will have to be Baht at current exchange rate from my reading - but not from UK so no real knowledge. Quote Consular fees are set in Pounds Sterling (GBP). They are payable in the currency circulating at the place of payment, except that consular officers have discretion to accept, in lieu of such currency, a cheque, money order, or other means to pay in terms of that currency. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/fco-consular-services-abroad-exchange-rates Edited December 16, 2020 by lopburi3 add then remove exchange rate as not sure
OneeyedJohn
I remember 3 years ago paying for an embassy letter regardng my income that cost £52, and I paid from my UK bank - transfer. That was about 10% cheaper than paying baht. When you talk about 52 quid for a letter , then it is a bit ironic to use the word "cheaper" anywhere.
