Man arrested for stealing from fatal car crash victims in Korat

A man has been arrested for allegedly stealing from the victims of a fatal road traffic accident in Nakhon Ratchasima.

 

Police said the man was pretending to be a good samaritan, mingling with rescue crews when in fact he had stolen some personal belongings, including a gold necklace, from the deceased and injured. 

 

Police arrested the man at the scene and he remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.

 

The two vehicle accident took place before noon on Monday on the Bangkok bound side of Mitrapap highway.

 

The driver and passenger of a blue Isuzu pick up truck were pronounced dead the scene while a passenger was thrown from the vehicle and suffered life threatening injuries

 

Three people in a Nissan pick up were also seriously injured and rushed to Sung Noen Hospital for treatment.

Now that would deserve some Thai bashing one would think but then again there are the persons who would see no wrong seeing the looters were Thai !

"If you do an internet search "looting airline crash" you will find this occurs everywhere, not specific to Thai people:  Ukraine, Peru, Iran...the list is long.

Add to that the Tsunami here in Thailand alone, apparently it was rife

A complete lack of empathy for his fellow man.

In a somewhat strained attempt to find a glimmer of rationale I will try to put at least a part of his actions on the desperate times some people are living in at the moment. I have to admit, however, that I am not having much success in exculpating him.
