Hua Hin: TAT investigating hotel over alleged stimulus scheme corruption

 

 

Netizens found what they believe to be a clear case of corruption in the government's "Let's travel together" - Rao Thiaw Duay Gan - cut price stimulus scheme for hotel booking. 

 

One hotel in the Hua Hin area that has 45 rooms somehow managed to take 6699 bookings - they only had 2 rooms remaining!

 

If this was true someone pointed out they had made 38 million baht in a day and if the full quota of bookings was taken up by each person they would need to have 33,500 rooms. 

 

One person online said that the hotel suggested checking in but not actually staying. Asking if this was legal they were allegedly told "it's your benefit, why not use it". 

 

The TAT have taken the hotel off the scheme's system meaning that people can no longer pay for bookings. 

 

They said it was a clear case or corruption and are investigating. 

 

As is typical in defamation crazy Thai, the hotel was not named. 

 

Several weeks ago the TAT governor Yutthasak Suphasorn went to the police with a list of 512 hotels nationwide who he said had ripped off the state under the scheme.
