Thai health officials seek lockdown of eastern region for 28 days

 

 

Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health will ask Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to impose lockdown restrictions on the entire eastern region of Thailand for 28 days, to stop the continuing surge of COVID-19 infections.

 

Deputy Public Health Minister Satit Pitutacha said today (Saturday) that the measure is necessary because many people at risk of being infected have concealed their involvement in activities which put them at risk, while others have refused to report to health officials for screening.

 

He said that 99% of the infections in Rayong, Chon Buri and Chanthaburi are linked to illegal gambling dens.

That and the illegal human trafficking through Thailand's porous borders will be the main reasons for  this second Covid wave. Corruption is the real killer.

Did you read the article?

The province hospitals are already overwhelmed they have set up a field hospital.

They should have locked it down last week.

That's correct. Interestingly most of measures being implemented now are pertinent, but should have been implemented ten days ago. And I am pretty sure that the doctors and epidemiologists pushed to do so, while the government procrastinated for the sake of preserving a tenth of a point of GDP. The country needed a lock down before New Year.  

They did so before last Songkran  and it worked... Go figure.

There is no real point in Locking Down the entire Eastern Seaboard now.

All the damage was done about a week or more so ago, and all the people that wanted too, have been allowed to travel all over the Country potentially carrying the Virus with them.

I still wonder why Lockdowns were not implemented sooner, and the only rational reason that I can come up with, is Money.

All the people travelling will spend money on Buses , Trains, Flights , Hotels, Food and Drink Etc, and the Government were so eager  to empty their Wallets at the cost of the Populations Health and Wellbeing.

Well ! in a few Days the Population will start to empty the Government Wallet for Covid treatment.

Abso-<deleted>-lutely! Leave the gate open and buffalo wander where they will. This is not disparaging of Thais. All of us were desperate for a break & a hug & family smiles after this year. But the generals shut down Songkran in April. Why didn't they use the same advice & shut down new year? Instead, they not only left the gate open, they offered a discount! Brilliant!

1. Close the risk of the disease outbreak in all areas of Rayong province.

1.1 parks

1.2 stadium, sports courtyard, all kinds of events.

1.3 golf course, golf course.

1.4 shooting ranges

1.5 fishing pond / shrimp fishing or other places that look the same.

1.6 music rehearsal places, music rehearsal rooms or other places that look the same.

1.7 Monk center, monk offering or monk offering field.

1.8 temporary flea market (meaning flea market that is not open daily)

1.9 All beaches closed from 18.00 pm To 06.00 am Of the next day, except folk fishing occupants can operate as usual.

1.10 All natural attractions to close from 18.00 pm. To 06.00 am of the next day

2. following locations in all areas of Rayong Province are open for service. Follow the surveillance, prevent and control the epidemic according to the schedule attached to this order strictly.

2.2 pet bath fur trims. Adopt / deposited animals to operate. Limited time in store service to no more than two hours and no sitting inside the shop is required.

2.3 convenience stores, retail / wholesale, small size, retail / wholesale, community, grocery stores.

2.4 Large retail / wholesale or large wholesale market

2.5 Floating market, flea market (meaning flea market which is open daily)
