STV Application Disqualified (US)

Recommended Posts

Has anyone been successful in getting the STV visa from the US? I applied over the weekend and they sent an email today saying that my application has been disqualified. Here's the email:

"Your application is disqualified under the current rules and regulations. The entry to Thailand is permitted for particular persons in the exempted list. Please check the list of exempted persons at https://thaiembdc.org/visas/"

Are tourists no longer allowed? Or did I just make a mistake in my application?

Did you comply with the following?

That was my first thought too; however, they clearly refer to a page with a list of people in 8 different groups that is allowed to go to Thailand, and none of the groups include tourists.

Added: It should be possible to enter Thailand on a visa exemption:

https://thaiembdc.org/2020/07/23/faq-for-non-thais-wishing-to-enter-thailand-during-the-covid-19-pandemic/

I'm applying for a regular Tourist Visa and was just approved. I wonder why they would exclude us in the USA from the STV but allow a regular Tourist Visa?

Per the link they sent you under the exempted list # 8 they do list Tourist and Special Tourist Visa. So it doesn't make sense they would disqualify you. Unless they just sent that in error because you were missing one of the STV requirements.

For example a confirmed paid booking for your entire length of stay in Thailand. Or maybe one of the other requirements?

Possibly missing something and they sent you a generic response?

Was this only after the online application or after you mailed your passport to the embassy?

I applied for STV in America and they accepted me for the online application then i was asked to mail my passport and documents to the embassy in washington,DC. Currently waiting to get it back.

Yes, I provided all the required documents although my proof of accommodation was a signed letter from a Thai friend. I'm not sure if this is the reason but it seems like they would have specified what needs to be changed in order to get the visa, right?

I assume you applied for a certificate of entry since you cannot apply for a visa online.

Is this the site you used. https://coethailand.mfa.go.th/

What did you select on the drop down menu.

I applied for the visa using this link found at the STV page quoted above: https://www.cognitoforms.com/RoyalThaiEmbassy1/VisaOnlineApplication

Thank you guys for your feedback!

This could be it. Do you mind telling me what insurance you used? And what you used as proof of accommodation? Thank you!

That was what the embassy was using for the certificate of entry application before the 1st of this month.

They are using the one I posted a link for before.

The page shows that link now. https://thaiembdc.org/2020/12/10/stv/

No, I think you are mistaken. This is for applying for the STV Visa, not the COE. On the page https://thaiembdc.org/2020/12/10/stv/ Step 1 says this and links to the cognitoforms page:

1. If the applicant does not have a valid visa or re-entry permit, the applicant must request a visa, at least 15 working days before the intended date of travel, by filling in the information and upload all required documents online here [https://www.cognitoforms.com/RoyalThaiEmbassy1/VisaOnlineApplication]

This is probably a disqualifier on its own, regardless of anything else. I was asked for a clear booking of at least 3m, prepaid and payment acknowledged by the accomodation. One of the criteria, according to the embassy (country in Europe) was that the STV is for people who have long stay arrangements (ie own a place or long term rent / yearly lease or booked and prepaid for long term / at least 3m).

Lots of hoops...I just completed all 27 of them and two days before my departure, EVA cancelled all TPE transit.  Then start over with new air res, new ASQ res, New CV test, new med form and new COE.....been a freaking nightmare.  In addition to the ASQ res, my wife wrote a letter to the Consulate General explaining that I would be staying with her.  Thus no hotel or apartment res required.

As Ubon said, make sure you use the new updated website.  I saw that LAX  consulate gave notice on 1 Jan you would need to use the new site.

The seem to have changed thing. That seems to be a preapplication for the visa and then later you complete the COE application. But other than some small differences it appears to be the same form as this link takes you to.

https://thaiembdc.org/onlinevisaapplication/

Further down the the page it has this.

3. After receiving a visa, the applicants may request the Certificate of Entry (COE) at https://coethailand.mfa.go.th/

Its surprising that anyone from anywhere in the USA is being granted any temp or tourist Visa.

As of December 16th from US State Department.....

Last update: December 16, 2020 Q: What is the status on the Royal Thai Government’s visa amnesty? A: On September 30, 2020, the Royal Thai Government officially approved a grace period until October 31, 2020 for persons in Thailand in temporary visa status (of all visa types) to depart the country. The measure was published ...

Ergo: Everyone was told to Vacate the country or aquire a long term Visa by October 31st...as well as being supported by The State Department  to Depart

Why we would suddenly be allowed to return on any scheme for a temp tourist Visa is dubious at best.

HI all,

I am in the process of collecting all he documents needed for applying for my STV. I am in the U.S.

I have a question regarding the Criminal record requirement: I am able to request a Cori check of my record but I don't see

any way to get it signed by an authorizer's signature since it is all done online.   Any suggestions or is this really for the Non-Imm

Visas ?   I have to say I haven't seen such a list of requirements ever before for obtaining a tourist visa to enter Thailand.

I think I can say without reservation I do not have: Leprosy or Elephantiasis or any Step of Syphilis or Drug addiction ????

Anyways we must keep a sense of humor while fulfilling these requirements...because the 14 days of Quarantine will certainly sap of us of any remaining humor we might have retained ????

I am open to any and all suggestions

The Embassy in DC told me they don't accept on line police records check. Most all states will provide a record check at state police departments eith in person or via mail.

How did you get in touch with the Embassy in DC? I've been calling and emailing but haven't been able to reach anyone.

Just a quick update: I finally got in touch with someone at the Thai embassy who checked on this for me. She told me that the reason it was denied is because of the long-term accommodation letter signed by my Thai friend. I need a hotel reservation.

I'm trying to figure out how to resubmit the visa application now as the form can't be completed twice with the same name/birthday combination.

Going to apply for a STV for my 19 YO daughter. The TR has less paperwork but is only 60 days? In California where would one get a background check? Does the CHP do this? They want state or federal. Can ask a Dr. to sign the Thai form. Will do insurance and provide house information. Maybe a 4-6 week process from application if all is correct?
