You still can not tell a sarcastic comment when you read one I see.  Well maybe because Prawit said there was none, well at least in Bangkok

It has been said that 'Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit.'  Some people don't understand that what seems amusing as a statement, usually spoken to oneself does not communicate any humour at all when written down. But thank you for explaining to me that it was Sarcasm and an attempt at humour. I am ROFL

One can never eliminate gambling. It is futile and corrupt. In Kuwait, where casinos are banned wealthy Kuwaitis used to visit the docks where the oysters were being landed, buy large quantities and bet which ones would have a pearl or not. People can bet on where a fly is going to land in a room or which raindrop will roll down a window first. The criminalization of gambling is, like the war on drugs a futile, corrupting waste of time. The issue in the story above is the potential spread of covid which could have been prevented by establishing on line gambling platforms.

gambling goes hand in hand with other mental diseases like bi-polar

No it does not. Gambling has a rich and lustrous history. Horse racing being just one example. You insult both the mentally ill and the 99% of untroubled gamblers with your remark. Gambling is part of our history and culture.

Gambling really is a disease for Chinese it seems. They just can't get enough of it.

I had a hot Chinese girlfriend back in England but if we went into London for a night on the town she just could not pass an amusement arcade and spend 30 - 40 minutes in there on the penny arcade. To drag her away from a pile of pennies perched on the edge was a herculean task. She had pumped so many pennies into it that she seriously thought it owed her.  ' I am just about to win ' was her constant excuse.

Compulsive gambling is a worldwide disease, equally serious everywhere. Lives are ruined by it. How many of your brit friends compulsively buy lottery tickets or bet on sports games? And how many "hot" gambling Chinese girlfriends have you had? Just the one? It's just that since this IS Southeast Asia, you WILL see more Asians doing it. And since Thailand is so eager to have Chinese people spend their money here, Chinese people see the red carpet rolled out for them, and here they are. Go to any casino in the world and count up the ethnicities you see. So, curb your bigotry please. It's not pretty. And perhaps you should adjust your criteria regarding your choice of girlfriends simply because they are "hot". Show some respect.

I'm sure the PM is rubbing his hands in glee by now seeing the fruits of his labor trying to eradicate gambling,

the Thais will be let go after paying a 'big fine' and the rest, i don't envy them right now...

why the cynical attitude? the police did a good job by closing down illegal gambling in a condo. and whats about the 'big fine' remark? its so silly. do you ever see something positive in Thailand?

Surprise, all the news was about casino's parlors, so to make their point they rented two rooms and make a show of force!????  which volunteer police raise their hands for this photo op?

I was asked once to help out on a sting for a GC, but I told them no once my pants drops I'm getting my happy ending first then I will give you the secret code to raid the place.

Now to find some farang bridge players! Also get some dart throwers and pool hustlers.

Bridge players will never get prosecuted. There is a bridge room in the RBSC and many influential people playing there.

All gambling places require some kind of rake, and you are only in danger if you don't pay it.
