Popular Post webfact
Chiang Mai: Tourism chief says Covid payment promise does not apply Picture: Sanook The chief of the tourist business association of Chiang Mai told the Thai media that he was not paying up 100,000 baht for people who caught Covid in the north or anywhere else. Earlier a campaign was started that boasted 100,000 baht to people who caught the virus and one million baht to the family of anyone who died. Phallop Sae-jew wriggled his way out of paying anyone after several cases were linked to Warm-Up Cafe on December 31st and seventeen new cases are feared at an establishment called Riverside. Other cases are expected as the number of infections has passed 50 in the northern Thai province. Picture: Sanook Phallop said the promise to pay referred only to people infected from the 1G1 hotel across the border from Mai Sai, not locally acquired infections and those brought in from elsewhere in Thailand. Phallop reported that arrivals at Chiang Mai airport were down from 8,000 a day around New Year to just 2,000. This 75% reduction in potential would be seen in all tourism businesses, he warned. Warm-Up Cafe also promised a Covid payment - their response has also been tumbleweed, notes Thaivisa after netizens slammed the venue that was overcrowded on New Year's Eve despite their claims all Covid protocols were being followed. Popular Post jackdd
I looked up the case with Warmup Cafe, here a news article in Thai: https://www.matichon.co.th/social/news_2522771 They wrote on their Facebook page that they will pay 100k if somebody catches Covid there. When the woman tried to claim the 100k from them she was told that this was only marketing and they don't really pay this out. TIT 1 1

Popular Post ThailandRyan
Another U-turn, another day. Was anyone truly surprised. Friends of the GF traveled to Chiang Mai over Christmas from BKK and were so sure if they caught Covid they would get money as they had read the articles and watched the news regarding it as a way to draw in tourists. They went as planned, but did not want to get Covid, and did everything in their power to minimize their exposure. However, the promise of payment of 100K THB should they catch Covid made the decision easier for them to travel, and was a selling point in their travel plans. 2 1

Thailand
Actually can't see how Covid can survive in the increasing pollution, levels now already at AQI unhealthy. Could be a selling point I guess. And if it is not the case can always say it only applied under certain conditions.
Oldie
To sum it up - every statement that is not printed in The Royal Gazette should be ignored by the media to avoid confusion and false information of the population.

Litlos
There do not appear to be any advertising standards laws in Thailand, if there were there would be no adverts for "whitening" potions. So they can advertise whatever they like and there is no come back if the claims are not met. Cheers
