webfact
Bangkok beautification: Governor plants pine trees in Khao San area! Picture: Facebook Bangkok Governor The beautification and gentrification of Bangkok has continued with pine trees planted in the Khao San area. Bangkok's governor Aswin Kwanmuang proudly proclaimed on his Facebook page that phase two of plans ordered by PM Payuth Chan-ocha to tidy up the area were complete with Kraisi Road that runs alongside Khao San now complete. The road also features stainless steel bollards like its more famous sister and is "clean, beautiful and easy to walk along" according to the governor. Other areas of Bangkok are also planned to get the beautification treatment, he said. Thaivisa notes that many people are pleased with efforts to make Bangkok more habitable and easier to walk in but critics point to the fact that the measures to bring order have turned some areas from character filled to sanitized and boring. tonray
Hoping the scent of Pine needles will mask the scent of urine ? But seriously I love those trees ..just added two in large pots to my garden, they need to be misted especially in hot season to do well however. harada
I’m sure the thought was there but big pine trees and a mass of powerlines don’t mix.
soi3eddie
If and when backpackers ever come back, they'll certainly be impressed. Lucky they put the trees in tubs and behind railings to keep the soi dogs and drunks from pissing on the trees.
Popular Post Tropicalevo
Come on people! Why feed the starving and homeless? Why help the businesses that are struggling to survive? Why help the unemployed when we can spend money on planting trees? Remember that when these 'infrastructure' projects are awarded, there is never a budget for maintenance. I suspect that the trees will be dead in nine months. For goodness sake Bangkok - please help those that really need help. 2
Benmart
It's all about appearance and illusion. Behind the gilded façade and selected tidy streets, reality tells the story of despair and hopelessness for many.

MaiDong
Why pine trees?? They look so out of place, like a Christmas toy town.
Captain Monday
I anticipate various problems. Then dig them all up when time to bury the overhead wires.
