webfact
Phuket: Patong most beautiful in years - but no one there to enjoy it Picture: Daily News A post on the fanpage of "A Day to Chill" reported that Patong Beach in Phuket was more beautiful than it has been for years. But there was virtually no one there to enjoy it. There was crystal clear water, clear blue skies and perfect weather with a cool breeze. Picture: Daily News Netizens agreed with the assessment noting that with hotels being shut there was no pollution going into the water and the pandemic has meant the recovery of nature. Daily News stated the obvious that Phuket is presently not being visited by either domestic or foreign tourists. Popular Post madmitch
Is that really a news article? You either have tourists or you have beauty. You can't have both.

Popular Post madmitch
Just now, Kaopad999 said: Maybe a limited amount of tourists would be the way forward? It doesn't work that way, unfortunately. A small numbers of tourists does very little to help the struggling businesses. With a place like Patong, in fact all Phuket's West Coast resorts, it's feast or famine. And therein lies the problem. 6

There is of course that problem, however, is it worth destroying the environment for mass tourism? There are major consequences on each side of the argument. The only way forward is to look at alternative solutions that benefit both the locals and the environment Edited January 14, 2021 by Kaopad999 1

Popular Post xylophone
Patong most beautiful in years - but no one there to enjoy it. Well the beach and the water certainly look lovely, but as for "Patong being the most beautiful in years", well one only has to move back from the beach to the potholed beach road, dilapidated small shops and half finished buildings to see that Patong really hasn't changed much at all, and that situation is mirrored in many other areas of Patong, sadly.

Weird that hotels can pollute the seawater in that case keep them closed. 1
