geovalin
Cambodia is a safe tourist destination with the Kingdom ranked by the World Health Organization (WHO) as among the top nations in the world with the best COVID-19 containment and impact management. The Bureau de Prospective Economique (BPE) of Senegal has also placed Cambodia in the 3rd place among the 166 studied nations across the world, and the 1st place in Asia in terms of the Kingdom’s effective measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 and to handle pandemic’s fallouts. Cambodia was also praised by WHO for avoiding a large-scale outbreak. Government spokesman Phay Siphan said the accolades by the WHO and BPE clearly shows that Cambodia has put in place the right stringent preventive and control measures on COVID-10 under the capable leadership of Prime Minister Hun Sen. He added the support and cooperation given by the Cambodians is another attributing factor for the nation’s success in combating the pandemic effectively. Siphan said Mr Hun Sen has even taken proactive measures including releasing funds and mobilising armed forces at the Cambodia-Thailand borders to quarantine migrant workers returning from Thailand at the border centers and immediately hospitalising those tested positive for the disease. read more https://www.khmertimeskh.com/50803895/cambodia-a-safe-tourist-destination-as-who-praises-c-19-pandemic-impact-management/
Burma Bill
Great news - the result of positive and instant pro-active decisions (like the immediate closure of all schools), no dithering like Thailand regarding maintaining financial income from tourism. Sadly many people lost their jobs overnight but the result (quote) "Cambodia was also praised by WHO for avoiding a large-scale outbreak". To date here in Siem Reap, no mandatory public health rules, no bans on alcohol, no lock-downs, no curfews, no QR code apps, no permits to travel etc. etc. etc.!! Face-masks recommended, but not compulsory, and temperature taken, along with hand sanitization, at some establishments like supermarkets and banks. Freedom to travel around the Kingdom. Otherwise life goes on more or less as "normal" with all schools now open again. What is worrying is the number of legal Khmer migrants wanting to return home, fleeing covid-19 ridden Thailand, despite the Government here telling them to remain in Thailand. Fortunately Immigration and the Military are making certain such repatriations are tested and go into state quarantine (14 days) before any onward travel. Our latest figures:- Cambodia Total cases 426 +15 Recovered 381 +4 Deaths 0 +0 Edited January 15, 2021 by Burma Bill additional information
Caldera
How can Cambodia be called a "safe tourist destination"? That's nonsensical. Unlike Thailand, they don't currently issue any tourist visas, so they aren't a tourist destination at all, safe or otherwise. 1
bangon04
Sounds familiar.... didn't we hear something similar about Thai success a few months ago?
