Forty people have been arrested after police raided a house in Nonthaburi province suspected of being a gambling den.

The raid of the house in Soi Wat Lad Pla Duk on Kanchanaphisek Road in Nonthaburi’s Bang Bua Thong district on Thursday night followed a tip-off.

“Officials have arrested 40 persons, 33 are Thai nationals and seven are migrant workers of the casino,” said Pol Maj-General Jiraphop Phuridet, deputy chief of the Central Investigation Bureau.

“Officials have also confiscated decks of cards of the Dragon-Tiger game, plastic chips and some cash as evidence.”

All the suspects were taken to Bang Bua Thong Police Station for interrogation and screening for Covid-19 in isolation rooms.

Preliminary investigation of the migrant workers revealed that the casino had been opened for only two days at the house and the owner had plans to move it around to other locations periodically. Police are gathering evidence and information to track down the owner.

What kind of punishment do people get for gambling? I mean punters, not the operators.

For one, probably loss of their cash exchanged to chips.

... police reported "confiscated some cash"...

Who to say what was the total, or dare to complain about whatever the official police total is?

I was caught in a similar raid. Just a rented room, not a dedicated gambling den.

Coppers took all the money on the table, and most were fined 500 baht.
My girlfriend at the time was an illegal lottery seller and already paid the cops 3,000 per month to operate.
Same copper as did the raid, so her and I were excused from paying.
we were only playing Pai, no tables like in the photo.

It was all in good spirits, they said we should keep the door closed next time. No big deal pre covid.

Amata City Rayong.

Honest guv , its not a gambling den. We don't know what all that gambling paraphernalia  is doing here. It was here when we all arrived for our meditation class.

Didn't I just hear the Thai police saying...no more gambling dens under our watch???

:cheesy:

In reality, Thailand probably has, on any given night, just as many people gambling as they do police officers on duty.... maybe more!

You'd think with all the heat on gambling dens at the moment they'd have more sense?
