The scheme will hand two monthly payments of Bt3,500 to the self-employed, farmers and welfare card holders whose savings do not exceed the eligibility criteria. About 31 million people will be eligible for the scheme, which will cost an estimated Bt210 billion. After Cabinet approval, the ministry will open the scheme to applicants. That - assuming kids are not getting handouts - must mean something like 75% of the workforce living on nearly nothing or have nearly nothing in the bank.

jonclark
I would be more impressed if they could think of a name that does not involve the word 'Chana' . But then again given the PMs surname it's hardly surprising his acolytes have come up with such a name.
Mops59
Wow. 31 Million working people eligible for THB 3.500. Almost half of the Thai population. The other half are children and elderly. And some very very rich Thai tycoons. Time to shuffle the wealth of Thailand.

My wife has some land so qualifies as a farmer and she gets the handouts. She bought a sewing machine with the last issues.
overt2016
My son checked it out today and was informed that it wasn't a Cash Handout. Why are they confusing the issue?
