With all the visa hassle and moving of the goalposts things could change in a heartbeat. Where would you lot be off to if one day, for whatever reason, your visa is not renewed? When things went a soft belly-up in Thailand (sick of officials, 'no-have', etc), I moved to Laos (I used to work in Luang Prabang in 2013). No problems to get my 1-year business visa and work permit as an online science teacher (they encourage scientists to move to Laos, offering early PR etc). But yes, the healthcare sucks!
