For non-Thais only.........run by the government...all proceeds to a welfare fund.....for poor people, not politicians, that is.

Casinos only throw charities a bone ever so often at best....   The only winners are the Casinos the land owners, well paid management and some employees.....Everyone else is a loser.......

I lived in Nevada where gambling is legal. Its great for the economy on one hand, but causes a huge amount of family problems! Legalizing it here would be devastating to so many people! For some

No, every casino I have entered seemed to have a jaded kind of sad clientele wishing and hoping for that win, gaudy flashing lights appearance, a noisy environment and a general aura of sleaziness.

The winner who can walk away with their winnings and not come back are a drop in the bucket.......

Gambling breeds despair and poverty.....

I lost a £1 in a fruit machine 1973....never gambled since.....and yes despair and poverty mean it must be controlled.... ie non-Thais only (which you could argue is immoral) and run by the government (main problem there is it is a Thai government).

The lottery in the UK (not quite the same thing) does provide huge funding for projects... I guess you could argue these should be the responsibility of a government.......but in Thailand's case these funds will come from the Chinese.....and go to poor Thais (5555....in theory)

Maybe the question should be: Should there only be legal casinos in Pattaya instead of the illegal casinos? And what rules will those legal casinos follow? And who will enforce the rules? And who would make sure there are no illegal casinos for the desperate anymore?

As long as the Thai police is the way it is not much will change. And who will reform the police?

You've obviously not been to Sihanoukville to see how casinos, Chinese casinos, changed the area.

still don't care, as it won't affect me at all.

maybe I'll go play roulette.
