Popular Post webfact 82,154
Thai man posts bad review of state quarantine - subsequent post paints better view Picture: Daily News Several posts on Facebook painted Thai state quarantine in varying lights. The first said that they were a couple and were housed in a deserted hotel in Ranong in the south of Thailand that was covered in fungus. Picture: Daily News When they arrived there was no electric and consequently no water. They had to use candles for light. Picture: Daily News "This is state quarantine in Thailand", he lamented reporting there was: No TV No fridge No air con No Wi-fi Two dirty fans but no electricity No water. "At least there's a bed", he noted. He claimed that he was told to relieve himself from behind a balcony and apologize to the spirit of the area for doing so. "No wonder people flee quarantine", he said. A subsequent post said that the electric was now on and he thanked the officials for their efforts. Picture: Sanook Sanook reported on an alternative view of the same facility that said it was clean and tidy and the lack of electricity and water was caused by a power cut that only lasted one night. Pictures from that post looked a little more inviting. A room with an old 500baht fan, No T.V, No Air Con, No fridge etc... That is not even a 500baht a night room and looks more like a 200baht room or less. I personally think it's disgusting even in the second photo. Even prisoners in the UK are far better looked after and I believe the going rate of £2,000 compensation for having to slip out.

I’m pretty sure this is not one of the alternative state quarantine hotels intended for foreign incoming travelers (or Thais willing to pay) but a standard state quarantine room, paid for by the government. The fact that it’s in Ranong, probably meant it was hastily set up for returning Thais from Myanmar.

No this is free and paid for by the Thai government for all returning Thai nationals.

This is SQ not ASQ or ALSQ therefore, free for Thais (doesn't excuse them using such a <deleted> hole!). Cheapest paid quarantine is 26,500 THB (https://thaiest.com/bookings/asq/seasons-siam-hotel). I know the UK has become a "welfare State" but paying prisoners £2,000 to "slip out" is a bit much. I thought the were supposed to be locked up! PS; I know it is a typo for slopping out!
