Dominic Lipinski/PA Wire/Pool via REUTERS LONDON (Reuters) - British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said Wednesday's record deaths from COVID-19 are "appalling" and the death toll is likely to keep rising in the next few weeks because of the spread of a new, more infectious variant of the virus. Britain reported a record daily number of deaths with 1,820 people dying within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. "These figures are appalling," Johnson told Sky News. "It is true that it looks as though the rates of infection in the country overall may now be peaking or flattening, but they are not flattening very fast and it is clear that we must keep a grip on this." Popular Post Chomper Higgot
His failed ‘herd immunity’ experiment has failed, now he acts shocked that the disease he wanted to leave the nation exposed to has killed so many of the people he’s meant to serve and protect. The man’s an utter disgrace. 12 1

I agree, should have had a mask policy and flight restrictions from day 1. Also to blame are the British people themselves with their a) lack of ability to follow common sense precautions (I was there I saw with my own eyes how stupid and contrary many of the people were) and c) being one of the most unhealthy populations on the planet. 5

We hear of how many people get infected, but not how many have recovered, i.e. there are two sides to the coin, why are we only being shown one side, all the time ? 3 2

That is the only numbers that matter.

Popular Post gamini
Very unhealthy diet, overeating (obsese) are some of the reasons for the UK having the highest per capita death rate in the world. Johnson's complete lack of responsibility also plays a big role. He should have had a complete lockdown over Christmas and New Year. But he was more concerned about his popularity and his fixation wiyh brexit than people dying of the disease. Couple that with young selfish people's disregard, having raves and parties. 4
Dagfinnur Traustason
Maybe Mr Boris should heed advice from Thailand. As he is failing miserably and Thailand is curbing the second wave with flying colors, that would be the only sensible thing to do. So, Boris! Stop standing their waving your hands in the air spreading the virus.

Of course he is, but why don't they (all of the governments around the world) tell us of the ages of the deceased. Just telling yelling out 1,875 people died from Covid today scares the $hit out of a lot of people, is that what they are wanting to do ? I know people as young as 30 who are freaking out, get a grip. It would be easy to say 1,875 people died of Covid today, the majority where older than 75 years of age, those being the ones most at risk, simple really from where I am seeing things, as opposed to scaremongering IMO. 4 3

Your not getting what I am saying, I mean we are all going to die eventually, not advising the ages to me is creating fear among the populations, if it was reported correctly, e.g. 1,785 elderly people passed today due to Covid, then that is who passed, by not disclosing ages/statistics, it as I said before creates fear when it shouldn't, ok, wash hands, social distance, wear a mask, stay away from the elderly, but 1,875 people died of Covid today isn't really telling us which people died, the elderly, middle age, the young. If you can't see what I am on about, I give up.

Maybe that fear is necessary to ensure the younger people (and people who don't give a FF about older people) still pay attention to the rules.......in an attempt to minimize the deaths of old people. So your message is .....listen everybody if you are under 60 crack on... no sweat......no need to wash, socially distance, wear masks you are safe......it is only the old folk that will snuff it.
