PHUKET: Police arrested a Nigerian man in Patong on Tuesday (Jan 19) after officers found him carrying crystal meth (ya ice). Police later found cocaine and ecstasy at the man’s rented accommodation in Kamala.

Acting on a tip-off, officers led by Maj Suchart Chumphusaeng of the Patong Police arrested Davidsmith Chinazaekpere Ejiogo, 26, in front of a building on Soi Nanai 8 after he was found to be carrying 1.25 grams of ya ice in his pants pockets, reported Patong Police yesterday.

After questioning Mr Ejiogo, police searched his rented apartment in Kamala where officers found 1.5g of cocaine in a drawer near his bed and 4.7g of ecstasy under a plant pot in front of his room.

Another major bust acting on a tip off !  Why can't they find drug dealers by themselves ? Less than 10 grams of drugs, but still more than in the tons of Ketamine in the warehouse bust !

Spohisticated 1st world crime squads are heavily reliant on leads and tip offs from the public. Why wouldn't Thailand?

Yeah your right they shouldn't have arrested the guy over only 10g ????

Nigerians have a very bad reputation within Africa. From Kenya, Tanzania to South Africa, Angola, Congo and the Cameroon, they are despised as drug dealers, con-artists and general dishonesty.

Yes, there must be good Nigerian people, but, unfortunately, the stereotype has already set.

"Organized crime in Nigeria includes activities by fraudsters, bandits in northern Nigeria (such as looting and kidnappings on major highways), drug traffickers and racketeers, which have spread across Western Africa. Nigerian criminal gangs rose to prominence in the 1980s, owing much to the globalization of the world's economies and the high level of lawlessness and corruption in the country."

Silly rejoinder. Of course every country has criminals.

The point I made with that quote was that Nigeria has developed a culture of criminality above most others in the region, and has a deserved reputation for certain types of  criminality around the planet.

I also speak from personal experience not just from internet sources.

I've had many dealings with Nigerians.

The same is true for criminal gangs in other countries! Take the Chinese and the Mexicans for fentanyl for example, Cocaine from certain South American countries, heroin and the golden triangle etc, etc, etc!

Just because you don’t see it in other countries as openly doesn’t mean it’s not there!
