The murderer of seven year old Bobby in Chiang Rai has been arrested.

It was a 29 year old neighbor who clubbed him to death with a hoe after the little boy mistakenly hit him with a catapult pellet.

Bobby went missing and was subsequently found battered to death with a ruptured liver in a banana plantation a few kilometers from his house.

When a neighbor found out he was named in an arrest warrant he fled but came back to a house just a few doors away from where the funeral was taking place.

There he was nabbed by villagers and handed over to police.

Sinchai, 29, has admitted to the ghastly crime. He said that he frequently took Bobby on trips to kill birds with catapults.

That was why they were at the banana plantation. Bobby fired at a bird and hit his hand by mistake and this made him angry.

He told the boy to stay where he was and he went to get a stick and a hoe and bashed him to death from behind when he came back.

Pol Col Suchart Theerasawat is continuing to question the murderer.

Daily News reported that Sinchai had previously served jail time for attacking a child.

Fifteen years from now, when this guy is still in prison, his cellmates will ask him why he was there:

- what did you do to get such a long sentence?

- murder

- who did you murder and why?

- a 7-year old kid, because he hit my hand with a pellet from a catapult

- oh, was it worth it? I mean, you still got quite a few years to go here in this hell hole, was it worth it to murder him over this?

- hmmm... maybe not....

With respect Sir, keep at it because I believe, as a retired forensic expert, there could be more sinister reasons behind the attack. Dig into the accused's past record of child attacks. RIP young "Bobby".

What's that got to do with anything? How do you know the guy was a practicing devout Buddhist? You think in Christian countries with their 'thou shall not kill' rule means no one is murdered?

The number of grim news stories involving violent local perpetrators with "uncontrollable" anger / jealousy / greed or whatever paired with a total lack of restraint is staggering.

Why are there so much of them in Thailand? What went wrong in their raising / education?

It's too easy to always blame parents for behavior of their adult children. If it were that easy all the world would need is a single generation of good parenting to eliminate these problems forever.

there are many other influencing factors than just the parents.
