People used to trek to the dark side to shop at Siamburys, then recently Nadia opened a foreign food outlet on Soi Bonnet. More recently a new place has opened in Jomtien near the Golden Hanuman/ Gudwara statue and another has opened off Soi 4 in Pratumnak. TOPS must be hurting, due to their pricing policy on western goods, many of them branded as Waitrose, the most expensive supermarket in the UK. I thought they might have been quite dependent on foreign tourists, at least during the winter months, and that the expat population wouldn't be enough to keep them all going, but happily I was wrong. Siamburi's is going from strength to strength, and even the Big C is keeping well-stocked with Casino and other foreign goodies. There's also been no reduction that I've noticed in the amount and quality of farang bread being baked fresh daily. I had seen many requests for such a service on their facebook page so it should prove popular.
