Popular Post rooster59
Pattaya: Covid in resort was not our fault, says business leader - calls for insurance for tourists Image: Sophon Cable TV A leading figure in the Pattaya tourist industry is calling for a fund to be set up to insure visitors to the resort against catching Covid. Ekkasit Ngamphichet told Sophon Cable TV that the restrictions of the second wave had devastated all business in Pattaya, but particularly tourism. They are waiting to see what the government will come up with. Ekkasit said he wants to see the government express its confidence in Pattaya and assure the public that there are strict measures in place to stop any further spread of the virus. He said there was a misconception in the public that Pattaya had been the author of its own demise, which was not true. This needed to be addressed along with the idea of his Pattaya business and tourism association and members to have tourists insured by the state against catching Covid when visiting. Popular Post Banana7
It is the business's owner and manager's greedy money saving decisions to hire illegal migrant workers, which caused this second massive wave of virus infections and business closures. These owners and managers that hired illegal workers, didn't ensure that the workers had a 14 day quarantine when entering Thailand, and they didn't ensure each worker had USD$100,000 virus insurance and the proper authorization from Thai immigration. Additionally, it is government agencies and departments, that didn't prevent the illegal migrant workers from entering Thailand or going through the proper processes to enter legally. This second wave is completely the fault of the Thai government, by not preventing illegal entry to Thailand, and the Thai business owners and managers for agreeing to hire people who had not followed the legal process for entry into Thailand for work. Also, go ask China for financial help, since the virus started in China, and China withheld critical information from the WHO and the rest of the world, about the virus. If the thais weren’t so lazy, there would be no reason to bring in migrant workers, and combined with the issue of the greedy owners ( I’ll agree on this) there would be no issue 5

We had a bunch of Thais working for us and I'd have put their skills and work ethic right up with the best I've seen around the world. Of course, we paid them more than a Burmese salary. Edit: Of course, we had some slackers. But they didn't last long. Unlike some of the union workers in the USA that made entire careers of packing 2 honest hours of work into an 8 hour day. Still couldn't fire 'em... Edited January 23, 2021 by impulse 1 1 1 1

Yes true enough, as I stated, I agreed about the business owners being greedy, and excuse me for saying all thais are lazy, I was not implying this, only the vast majority. 2

The spread to Pattaya likely came down the coast from a Rayong illegal gambling den that didn't exist and the Rayong police chief wasn't sacked for. Lets go back 13 months and start from there shall we - there was a market in Wuhan China near an experimental lab........................................... Not sure what the insurance angle is as insuring migrants or tourists or anyone for that matter will not stop the spread of the virus - maybe its the business sector that needs insurance or support from their cash heavy Thai government who are not offering any compensation to the sector for massive losses they are suffering - they could care less Edited January 23, 2021 by smedly 1 1 1

I still see many in the large stores hiding in the alcoves playing with their phones. When I first worked here in Thailand I have to admit I found rather a high percentage seemed to shirk work and were a bit dishonest. Mind you, the contracted western workers were not setting a very good example, even the project manager arrived late each morning still half drunk. 3
Popular Post mikebell
The prime culprits in the blame game are the Chinese. Never forget who exported the virus to the world; who are responsible for over two million deaths and countless chronic sickness. The economy of the world is in tatters. It will be the Chinese who will hoover up the broken companies; Sino/Thais who have the lets-pretend local government in their pocket. 6 1
