Popular Post rooster59 18,605
Neo Pattaya: Project to transform resort into state the art metropolis begins - starting with Walking Street Locals in Pattaya have been given a first glimpse of the grand plans to transform the resort into a modern, state of the art metropolis. The ambitious ‘Neo Pattaya’ project began in earnest on Saturday when municipal staff erected new signage at the entrance to Pattaya’s famous Walking Street. First announced in October 2020, Neo Pattaya is the brainchild of the resort’s mayor, Sontaya Khunpluem, who has already set aside some 80 billion baht in public funds, in addition to private investment. Neo Pattaya consists of seven major infrastructure projects, the highlights of which include a monorail and a complete transformation of the Bali Hai and Walking Street areas. There will also be 20 billion spent improving the resort’s drainage and sewage systems and a 500 million baht boost to its IT infrastructure. Some 50 billion baht will be spent on the monorail project which will connect with the new high speed train to Bangkok and offer three tramlines along 34 kilometres of routes around the city. The Bali Hai and Walking street areas are also set for a significant makeover. A new “cruise terminal” and port will be built alongside Bali Hai suitable to carry both cargo and passenger traffic, while Walking Street is set to become a “modern entertainment area” with walking areas, recreation, shops and restaurants. The news comes as City Hall officials earlier this week announced plans to spruce up Walking Street in time Chinese New Year. Despite there being a complete lack of tourists in the city, Chinese or otherwise, municipal officials say now is the perfect time to set about cleaning up Walking Street, which at present is all but shuttered due to COVID-19. -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2021-01-24 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates 13 1

However, I would add one suggestion, can you please make the pavements everywhere more easily and safely walkable. I don't live in Pattaya, but I do own a holiday condo there and I often find going for a walk, even on the beach pavements in Jomtien, unsafe. Just a constructive suggestion. 9 2 8 2
