Popular Post webfact
DPM confirms Thais will start receiving vaccinations in June at a rate of 5 million doses a month BANGKOK (NNT) - The government has confirmed that Thai people will begin receiving COVID-19 vaccinations in June at a rate of 5 million doses a month using shots from Siam Bioessence, which was transfered production technology from AstraZeneca and is poised to be a production base for ASEAN. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health Anutin Chanvirakul, speaking at the "Producing a COVID Vaccine to Turn Around the Thai Economy" seminar, remarked that anti COVID-19 vaccinations will return Thailand to a state of normalcy and explained there is a clear inoculation plan despite concerns the EU is restricting exports and could hinder Thai orders from AstraZeneca. He voiced an assurance that 26 million doses resulting from a technology transfer between AstraZeneca and Siam Bioessence would be available in June, adding Thailand is slated to become a production hub in ASEAN. The DPM urged confidence in the government’s plan to provide 5 million doses a month at no cost to the public. The DPM went on to note Thailand’s pandemic situation has been light compared to other countries but said the government was applying full control measures, pointing out the new wave of infection was no one in the country’s fault but was due to outsiders bringing in the virus, requiring strict enforcement of the law. -- © Copyright NNT 2021-02-05 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates 2 2

Right .. the logistics of storing , transport , setting up centres , prioritising those who should be eligible first is a monumental task that will require a lot of planning and foresight .. if Anutin is in charge hope does not spring eternal that will be realised in such a short time frame .. As for the bit about being a " hub " that's just Anutin being Anutin

Technology aside, where are the lab chemists going to be obtaining the actual material to make the vaccines. Is Astrazenica also transferring samples of the vaccine with a few chemists to work alongside the Thai lab technicians who will be spinning up the vaccine itself. Has the lab already been certified for this specific vaccine production, and the space made for the specific vaccine for Covid-19 been ensured to be of the proper specifications needed. Have additional technicians been hired or are they shifting them from current assignments to just producing the AstraZenica vaccine?, or is just a recipe good enough and they will be making it in the kitchen like a Methamphetamine cooker makes meth? Standing by to see what occurs, setting my calendar with a date reminder to check back in less than 4 months to see. Making a vaccine is not as easy as he makes it seem, technology, equipment, temperature, segregated areas so no contamination can occur, and such is needed. I was not aware SiamBioscience had already completed a dedicated lab section within the complex at 99 Moo 4, Rural Highway Road, Bangkok, or built a new production space outside of what they already have in place for their other works. Wish them luck. Seems like they have put all of the eggs in one basket and Anutin has been put on the hotseat. 18

Popular Post Petey11
They ought to try and bring more than one vaccine producing centres on line. 5 million a month not enough, 26 million just enough for about 20% of population and have to consider possibly that vaccinations are going to be an ongoing thing for years to come, same as for flu. Countries can only open up to the rest of world once their own population is protected. At this projected rate it will be a few years before Thailand can do this.

Ummm !!!! Not correct Anutin. The fault for this new second outbreak lies squarely at the Door marked " Corrupt Government Officials " who aided the Greedy and ruthless THAI People Traffiikers in bringing lowly Foreign Workers into the Country Illegally to work in Factories owned by THAI Business 27

This racist xenophobia illustrates exactly why Thailand is and always will be a backward looking and thinking country. I would bet that if these vaccination targets are not reached then the blame will be laid firmly with Astrazenica (pesky farangs) as the Thai's couldn't possibly be at fault. Whatever happened to the Covid-19 vaccine that Thailand was developing? 19

This concerns me because Australia is soon starting mass vaccinations (free for EVERYONE in the country BTW....regardless of nationality & visa status) and it may well be that towards the end of this year travel restrictions will loosen up considerably for vaccinated people. And I really need to get back to Australia soon, but come the end of this year I'll more than likely still not be vaccinated, just sitting around here waiting for the Thais to get it together so I can get on the move again. Without that vaccination may not get a seat on a plane. 2

Anutin has called the wrong factory and gotten a confirmation of 5million whitening cream packs from Siam Bioessence. He should have called Siam Bioscience. They would have told him they zero chance of producing 5million per month for Thailand or having 29million ready in June. He is just not very bright. 2

Popular Post lkv
That's if Astra Zeneca does not cancel the agreement, there were a few rumours regarding this. Anyway, if it materialises, AZ will make 200 million doses, most for export, Thais will keep 26 million. So by October 2021 they would be on course to vaccinate 13 million people, that's 20% of the population. Herd immunity is achieved at about 70% excluding variants that may lower the efficacy, which means then you have to immunise 80-90% of the population. Israel has already concluded they cannot reach herd immunity without vaccinating the children, which make 30% of the population. It's all very exciting indeed.
Rancid
Well according to previous TV articles the Thai government says having the vaccine does not negate having 2 weeks in quarantine. Of interest perhaps is that the Australian government has also stated that having been vaccinated does not mean you avoid 2 weeks quarantine. So there are at least 2 countries stating that being vaccinated will not open their tourist industries, no doubt there are many others. So even if you get your jab don't be looking at visiting at least Thailand or Australia in the near future, probably not till next year.
impulse
Does someone have a calculator that works? Because mine keeps saying it will take over 2 years to administer 130 million doses at 5 million a month. And that can't be right... Tourism and the economy will be back to (almost) normal in 2021. Edit: I guess they could get there if they focused on vaccinating just the HiSo's on the correct end of the political spectrum, and tossed the rest of the population (and political opponents) to the wolves...
