Deputy transport minister Thavorn Senniam visited Hua Hin airport to check on the progress of seven projects to upgrade the facility.

There have been delays especially to work on the runway and Thavorn wanted to hurry these along and get the airport ready for an increase in international tourists post pandemic.

He was speaking after a meeting that examined the progress, problems and obstacles being faced in the Phase 1 of the airport's upgrade (2018-2021).

He noted that three projects have been completed - a 123 million baht safety upgrade and installation of an EDS system, a walk through area to check for guns and bombs costing 300,000 baht and 11 million baht spent on perimeter lighting.

Four projects are still being done with a runway and surrounding area upgrade of most concern after delays from the contractor.

This is expanding the runway and surrounding area at a cost of 250 million baht so that the airport can handle Boeing 737s and Airbus 320s.

In addition there is work to be done on an access ramp catering to the aged and handicapped at a cost of 5.3 million baht, the installation of a 4.88 million baht Dual View X-Ray machine (the old one is not up to standard and is uneconomical to repair) and 25 million baht on fencing.

The deputy minister also urged the Airports' authority to carry out PR and prepare a tourism arrival plan and budgets for 2023 and market research to promote the use of the airport as a destination for international travellers from neighboring countries - a key target.

The speeding up of current projects was also a priority.

Hua Hin nursing home resort.

Please keep telling people that!

We love the peace and quiet.

Fact is, that in normal times, you can find pretty much what you are looking for here?

And if not Bangkok is a short drive away.

NCC, hello,

for once you have a healthy sense of humor, you made me laugh.
Moreover, signs for the elderly have been put along the road, from HUA HIN to KHAO TAKIAP, including one, just in front of your house.

The airport has already had scheduled service with 737s and A320s.

Yup another Asian style airport with only one runway.  Guess the military strip

to the south can be an emergency landing place if an accident should occur when

and if the Hua Hin airport is operating some International flights.

  Location is the key.

Geezer

perhaps Thailand is sick of being associated with this one horse pony, for anyone that has lived in country for a while and travelled knows this place doesn't represent anything but the fantasies of foreigners..
