I met a few guys in a popular expat bar in Udon Thai on a weekend, some time ago.  Most were from small towns outside of Udon Thani.  They had told me they come into Udon Thani for a night out every weekend, and to speak English to people.  ????

Imaging working all your life, only to end up seeing out your days in a place where the highlight of your week, in your twilight years, is to drive 50kms or more for the luxury of speaking English to others.  ????

Sounds great to be honest, the only person I can speak to in English is the Mrs, when she's talking that is ????

You have misquoted me.

Champers post that.

You are correct.   My apologies.

Should have been  attributed to Mr. VRB and he corrected his post as well.

To add:     Sure got to admit "203 days" does sound like living together.  ????

And when she is actually talking to you, just turn the music up loud and save yourself some money.  ????

Actually it's VBF ( ???? ) and you're right @Leaver - 2-3 days in can feel like 203 days!

My friend described it as "very rural" - I kid you not, the water went off at 9PM so you had to have the barrel full by then!

Hence the old expression......Your turn in the barrel! ????

Like an exhibit in a zoo, or a museum.

Invite friends and family over to see the rich farang fool.

I know in my early Thai days I was often a sole falang and talked of like the special child..... 'oh, he can eat spicy'... was often the comment. One hears the word 'falang' so often in Thai conversation, and surely they are not talking of asparagus, chewing gum, potatoes nor guava.
