(DVB via AP) Thai and other foreign companies are expected to delay their investments in Myanmar following a military coup that threatens Thai border trade and migrant labour. Myanmar’s military seized power on February 1st, detaining civilian chiefs including the country’s de-facto leader, Aung San Suu Kyi. The military declared a year-long state of emergency, plunging Myanmar back into dictatorship after its brief experiment with democracy. Before the coup, Myanmar’s economy had been hit hard by COVID-19 and slower-than-expected reform. Popular Post ukrules
The civilised world should come together and sanction any country where there is a coup that overthrows the will of the people back to the stone age. Every single one of them......then all those involved should be personally sanctioned and subject to international court action. 4
Paul Henry
Donald should migrate to Myanmar. He likes the thought of living in a dictatorship, especially one where quid pro quo is common place.. Maybe able to borrow some money from the countries treasury with the help of the generals. This may help him over the financial problems he faces over the next few years. Win/win for both countries. 1 1 2

Is that before or after that Myanmar returns to the World bank the additional $350 million they were given the other week to deal with Covid19 and other health issues for their nation? I am sure the military junta will return these monies back to the free world governments that have donated now that they have decided to remove a democratically elected government by force, and rule by brute force. It does not bode well for SE Asian nations, most of which now are under the control of Juntas and Tyranny. https://www.imf.org/en/News/Articles/2021/01/13/pr219-myanmar-imf-execboardapproves-sdr258-4m-disburse-under-rcf-purchase-rfi-address-covid19 Edited February 8, 2021 by Scouse123
