Good question. Not really sure. Nobody else has said they had a similar problem. Yet. Definitely no "abnormal" use. ????

I keep the helmet in a top box when I leave the bike anywhere and in the shade out the front of the house when at home. Let's see if anyone else reports similar. If not, I'd be tempted by Real again but would check about availability of spares first.

Real Helmets are 2,000 baht vs 10,000 baht for more expensive makes, so just replace more often

I think once I paid over 20,000 for a Shoei. Now I use Shark.

Same here. Shark make great helmets. I'm on my fourth now. My Shoei never really matched my head shape anyway.

Real Helmets aren't great. I had a matte black one and the paint melted in the sun making it a sticky, dust covered mess. Still, what do you expect for 2000 Baht.

I've had a Shoei, Shark both good but not worth spending top dollar on Shoei that's for sure. I've got a Nolan N21 which was under £100 in UK and after 3 years still going strong. I'll buy another one when I go back for a trip

I'd rather spend 10,000 once and have a nice helmet for 3 years.

Rather than keep having to go and buy cheap ones and constantly riding around in a 2,000 Baht helmet.

My Shark helmets (which admittedly cost over 10,000 Baht) are several leagues above the Real ones. In terms of weight, style, comfort and arguably safety. Not worth skimping on cheap helmets, as I found out last year. 6 broken bones but no brain damage and no memory loss despite sliding down the road on my face. Can't put a price on that.

Think the advice is to change every 2-3 years as the plastic deteriorates in the sun. UV the main cause, I understand.
